My name is Scott Sullivan and I am a third grade teacher here at Belmont Elementary School. I come here from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I attended Duquesne University and earned my bachelors degree in elementary education. I spent four years in Pittsburgh working in various school districts with students ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade. I am in my fourth year here in Virginia, three of which have been spent at Belmont, teaching both third and fourth grade.
I am a sports enthusiast enjoying just about any sport, with a passion for basketball, golf, and football. Many of my Saturdays and Sundays are spent in front of the television flipping back and forth between two games. I am a die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler fan. I hope that does not offend any parents who are Redskin or Raven fans. Most of my other free time is spent outdoors in the sun, in front of a computer (playing, not working), and eating (just about anything).
My teaching style reflects my personality which is calm and easy-going. I also have a healthy sense of humor which quite often comes out in the classroom. However, I want parents and students to know that my expectations are high, and students will be held accountable for their work, behavior, and responsibilities. I believe students learn best in a classroom where they feel comfortable and are part of a community of learners. Part of my job is to create such an environment and I look forward to creating such a classroom this year. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me by email at sullivsa@pwcs.edu, or call me here at school.
